Where AI helps, who processes your data, and our no-training promise.
We use AI models to help research your family history, draft and translate text, organise documents, and check facts. AI is a tool inside the Service; it assists the work of producing your book and is not a substitute for professional, legal, or medical advice.
When AI features run, relevant material is sent to AI providers acting as our processors under a data-processing agreement. We currently use Google's Gemini models. Providers may process this data in the United States and other countries under the safeguards in our Privacy Policy. The current list is on our Sub-processors page.
We do not use your family material — uploads, drafts, prompts, or outputs — to train, fine-tune, or improve any machine-learning or foundation model, whether ours or a provider's. Our agreements with AI providers prohibit them from using your content for their own model training.
AI output can be incomplete or inaccurate and may reflect the limits of historical sources. Output is reviewed before it becomes part of your book, and no book is produced until you approve it. You remain responsible for verifying anything you intend to rely on outside the book.
We may use anonymised, aggregated technical telemetry (such as error and performance data) to secure and improve the Service; this does not include using your family material to train models. You can delete material or close your account at any time, which removes it from active processing as described in our Privacy Policy.
