What is a GEDCOM file?
A plain-text file, ending in .ged, that most family tree websites and genealogy programs can save and open. It carries the people in your tree, the dates and places of their lives, how they are related and — depending on the service — your sources and notes.
Photographs usually don't travel inside it: at most, the file links to them. You can add your photos to 7gens after the import, and they are placed in the book beside the people they show.
