The service

· In plain EnglishWe research, write, and bind a family history book for you. You give us material; we give you a book.

These terms govern use of the 7gens website, workshop, and associated services (the "Service"), provided by 7gens, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company. Using the Service means you accept these terms. The Service is AI-assisted family-history research, editorial work, and custom book production. It is not legal, genealogical-certification, inheritance, DNA-testing, or investigative advice.

· 02

What you're buying

· In plain EnglishDepending on your plan: workshop access, research credits, AI drafting, and optionally a printed hardcover or an archive request.

Depending on what you choose, the Service may include a subscription to the workshop, internal research credits, AI-assisted drafting and verification, production of a printed hardcover book, and archive-request services. The specific items, prices, and limits are shown at the point of purchase before you pay.

· 03

No guarantees about the history

· In plain EnglishGenealogy is uncertain. Records conflict, gaps exist, and AI can be wrong. We work carefully, but we can't guarantee every fact.

Genealogical research is inherently uncertain: archival records may be incomplete, contradictory, or unavailable, and AI-generated content may contain errors. We apply professional care and automated cross-checks, and you review and approve the result, but we do not warrant that any result is complete, accurate, or suitable for legal, inheritance, citizenship, or medical purposes. You are responsible for independently verifying anything you rely on.

· 04

Your account

· In plain EnglishKeep your password secret. You're responsible for what happens under your account.

You must be an adult to hold an account. You are responsible for the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at support@7gens.me of any unauthorised access. We accept no liability for losses caused by your failure to secure your credentials.

· 05

Your content and the right to upload it

· In plain EnglishYou own what you upload. You also promise you're allowed to upload it — including material about other people.

You retain all intellectual-property rights in content you upload, and you grant 7gens a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, process, and reproduce it solely to provide the Service; this licence ends on account closure. You confirm that you have the right to upload your content, including material concerning living relatives and other third parties, and that you have obtained any consents the law requires. You must not upload unlawful, infringing, or maliciously obtained material.

· 06

AI and your review

· In plain EnglishAI does the heavy lifting; people review the work. A draft isn't final until you approve it.

The Service uses AI providers as processors to research, draft, translate, and check content. You then review and edit drafts — on your own or with the AI editor — and approve them. Drafts and AI output are provisional and may change. No book is final until you approve it for production. We may use anonymised technical telemetry to keep the Service secure and to improve quality, but we do not use your family material to train AI models.

· 07

Payment, plans, and credits

· In plain EnglishPrices are shown before you pay. Subscriptions renew until cancelled. Credits are for using the service, not cash.

Fees, billing cycles, and any taxes are shown before purchase and charged through Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically each period until cancelled. Internal research credits are a prepaid means of using AI and research features; they have no cash value, are non-transferable, and are governed by the credit terms shown in the product. You authorise us to charge your payment method for amounts you incur.

· 08

Refunds and cancellation

· In plain EnglishCancel anytime. Subscriptions: current period isn't refunded; annual plans are prorated. Print orders can't be refunded once printing starts. Full detail in the Refund Policy.

You may cancel at any time. Monthly fees are non-refundable for the current period; annual plans are refunded pro-rata for the unused portion. Used research credits are non-refundable. Printed-book and archive fees become non-refundable once production or the third-party request has begun. Our full Refund Policy at /en/legal/refund forms part of these terms; to request a refund, write to support@7gens.me.

· 09

Printed books

· In plain EnglishYou approve a proof before we print. After that, printing and shipping are handled by our print partner; we replace defective copies.

Before any book is printed you must approve a final proof. Printing and shipping are fulfilled by our print partner (Lulu); production and delivery times are estimates. Once you approve a proof and a print order is placed, it cannot be cancelled or refunded except for manufacturing defects or damage in transit, which we will replace or reprint. Shipping, taxes, duties, and customs charges may apply depending on your location.

· 010

Archive requests

· In plain EnglishIf you ask us to request records from an archive, we pass on the archive's fees and rules. We can't guarantee what an archive returns.

Where you request records from third-party archives, you authorise us to submit the request on your behalf. Third-party fees, processing times, and outcomes are set by the archive, not by us; we cannot guarantee that an archive will respond, respond in time, or hold the records you seek. Fees for submitted requests are non-refundable once the request has been sent.

· 011

Acceptable use

· In plain EnglishDon't break the law, harass people, impersonate others, scrape the service, or try to break security.

You must not use the Service to upload unlawful content, to harass, dox, or impersonate others, to infringe intellectual-property or privacy rights, to scrape or reverse-engineer the Service, or to compromise its security or availability. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms or applicable law.

· 012

Liability

· In plain EnglishWe can't promise the service is flawless. Our total liability is capped at the last 12 months of fees.

The Service is provided "as is" to the maximum extent permitted by law. Our aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with these terms shall not exceed the fees you paid to 7gens in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim. We exclude liability for indirect, consequential, or special damages. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

· 013

Governing law and disputes

· In plain EnglishDelaware law governs. We'll try to resolve disputes with you directly first.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the state and federal courts located in Delaware have jurisdiction, unless mandatory local law gives you a different forum. Before bringing a claim, contact us at support@7gens.me so we can try to resolve it.

· 014

Contact

· In plain EnglishQuestions, billing disputes, or legal notices: email us.
